B Srilakshmi, MSc, MEd, MPhil is presently working with Indira Gandhi National Open University as ProgrammeInCharge for MSc (Dietetics and Food Service Management) course at SCS Kothari Academy for Women, Chennai. She has a long distinguished career by directly teaching the students and writing books on Nutrition and Dietetics for them. She was fortunate to study under Ms. Pearson and the first home scientist to join National Institute of Nutrition and work under Dr. Gopalan and Dr. Srikantiah. She has a lot of experience in teaching Nutrition subject at Leelabai Thakersey College of Nursing and SVT College of Home Science of SNDT University, Mumbai and Anna Adarsh College for Women, Chennai. She was the first home scientist to venture to write books on Dietetics, Food Science and Nutrition Science in the Indian context. From the past ten years Ms. Srilakshmi endowment lectures are conducted at Anna Adarsh College for Women for the benefit of students. In 2014 she was honoured by Madras Medical Mission, Chennai, on International Women s day for her contribution in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.
